Sony just introduced Spider-Man’s equivilent of Kang into the world of live-action, in a move with colossal implications for both its universe and the upcomingMarvel Cinematic UniversemovieSpider-Man 4.
Talk about whether the upcoming sequel will bestreet-level or a multiverse Spider-Man storyhas circled for some time, suggesting thata villain who transcends these differences and could serve as a threat to either could be the perfect choice forward. Following the establishment of Celestials in the MCU, this new threat could be a perfect antagonist for Spider-Man.

Witheverything known aboutSpider-Man 4, the villain of the film will certainly be an important component of the story. FollowingSpider-Man: No Way Home’s use of villains from the hero’s past,it is likely that a new foe will be introduced inSpider-Man 4.Some have talked of introducing a new Norman Osborn, or including Black Cat in the film. However, this is another villain who could crossover to the Spider-Man film in a perfect way after appearing in a new Sony movie trailer.
Venom: The Last Dance’s Final Trailer Introduces Knull
Knull Is The Creator Of The Symbiotes
The new trailer forVenom: The Last Dancereveals thatVenom will stand against the ridiculously powerful Knull, an antagonist arguably as powerful as Kang the Conqueror, in the film. Venom notes in the trailer"My home has found us,“before revealing that his creator is the one after them. The film seems to expand the lore of the symbiotes in the Venom films and is clearly setting up a conflict between Knull, the creator and god of the symbiotes, and Venom, the outcast combination of Eddie Brock and the symbiote.
The trailer is intense, and shows exciting conflicts with monsters in all kinds of settings. However, there have also been rumors that Venom may die in the upcoming film. If this were to happen, it could be that Knull is being setup to be a larger villain than simply in this film. Having the villain introduced here before moving into the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an exciting and compelling way to tie the franchises together.

Knull Is A Massively Powerful Villain In The Marvel Comics
Knull Was Introduced In 2018
Knull is a fairly recent addition to the symbiote lore, debuting inVenomcomics in 2018 after a single unnamed appearanceThor: God of Thunderin 2013.Knull is the creator of the symbiotes, and is a god of darkness. He is often referred to as the King in Black, and has had several symbiote stories in the comics. Hunting down those who have bonded with symbiotes, Knull wound up killing Eddie Brock in Marvel comics, although the character has since been revived.
Knull’s powers and abilities are reflective of his god status, and he also traditionally carries a Necrosword - an immensely powerful weapon in Marvel lore - known as the All-Black, made from a combination of the first symbiote and a dead Celestial. Beyond superhuman strength and abilities,Knull is also able to create and control symbiotes. His control of a living abyss allowed him to use these abilities to control symbiote dragons in an assault on Earth. He has existed for billions of years, and has incredible ability and knowledge from his existence throughout that time.

How Knull Could Become The Villain Of Marvel’s Spider-Man 4
Spider-Man 4needs a new and compelling villain, and Knull would make sense after a symbiote story was setup inSpider-Man: No Way Home’s post-credit scene, where Venom left a part of himself behind. In the comics,Knull hunts down people who have bonded to symbiotes, andit appears that this is the plan forThe Last Danceas well. Following this, it makes sense that Knull would discover a part of Venom missing, and find himself having to hunt down Spider-Man in the MCU after that film’s events.
IfSpider-Man 4decides to tell a multiverse story instead, there are also connections to Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.His Peter Parker bonded with the symbiote inSpider-Man 3before destroying it, suggesting that Knull may wish to hunt him downas well. If the MCU decides to proceed with a symbiote story in their universe, it is likely they will put a new and compelling spin on the story. Using Knull would assist with that significantly.

8 Reasons Marvel’s Spider-Man 4 Director Is The Perfect Choice
Destin Daniel Cretton has been chosen to direct Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man 4, and there are some solid reasons why he’s the perfect choice.
Few details are known aboutSpider-Man 4, and future plans for Sony’s separate universe that includesVenom: The Last Danceare not clear. It seems that the universe may be coming to an end, which means that the studio may be looking for ways to better integrate the components that have worked into the larger Spider-Man universe. The ending ofVenom: The Last Dancewill no doubt provide some clarity on Knull and the future of the symbiotes, hopefully even leading directly into the events ofSpider-Man 4.
