ASquid Gameseason 2 trailer has debuted and shows Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) returning to the brutal games. Despite winning and surviving the games in season 1, Gi-hun’s business is not finished. Instead of boarding the plane to reunite with his daughter, Gi-hun turned around, intent on taking down the games and the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), withSquid Gameseason 2seeing Gi-hun seek his revenge against those who wronged him and countless others.

Netflixhas now releaseda new season 2 trailer as part of Geeked Week that shows Gi-hun waking up to find the Front Man at his door. Check out the trailer below:

Lee Jung Jae as Gi-hun from Squid Game

Gi-hun is later seen waking up back in the game while wearing the green and white player uniform, once againidentifying him as player 456. The trailer also shows the Front Man running the games once more, this time without any involvement from their creator, Oh Il-nam (O Yeong-su), while the guards set up a series of seemingly childlike, yet deadly competitions.

What The Trailer Means For Squid Game Season 2

It Feels Intentionally Surreal

The trailer has a dreamlike quality to it, which is furthered by Gi-hun waking upat the beginning and end of the footage that is shown. It is unclear if the Front Man is really at Gi-hun’s door, if Gi-hun is truly back in the games as player 456, or if these are dreams he is having as a result of the trauma he endured during season 1. Simply playing again may not be an effective way to take revenge, as he will be relatively powerless in this position and at the whims of the Front Man and his guards.

I Love Squid Game, But I’m Glad Season 4 Isn’t Happening

As much as I love Netflix’s Squid Game, I am glad that the show is ending its run with its third installment and that a season 4 is not in the books.

Gi-hun may need to find a different way to undermine the Front Man, potentially by posing as one of the guards. If this is the case,Gi-hun could be one of the masked guards shown in the trailer, using the position to destabilize the games from within. In addition to the mystery of what is actually happening with Gi-hun, the trailer hints at the new competitions the players will face this time, one of which will involve a pair of circular rainbows, with their bright colors once again feeling disconcerting in contrast with the bloodshed that occurs.
