Stardew Valleyhas a working playground where the town’s NPC children play, but fans are now requesting that developer ConcernedApe let them in on the fun in the next update. There’s plenty to do in the cozy farming sim, which is still getting updates nearly a decade after its first release. The latest content expansion, Update 1.6, added so much new content that players are still slowlydiscovering all the hidden featuresthat were snuck in under the radar.

But there’s one thing that players wish they could do, and it has nothing to do with farming, romancing, or exploring. “It’s tragic that you can’t wobble on this wobbly boy…,” laments Reddit useroldeluke, paired with a screenshot oftheir farmer character sadly sitting in the rain unmoving on the wobbly duck-like toy in the playground. The game also allows players to sit on the swings, but not actually swing on them.

Fans agree with oldeluke, expressing theirwishes to be able to slide down the slide, swing on the swings and, of course, wobble on “this wobbly boy.“As Redditorhumanwileyputs it, “All of us on Stardew just to play on the playground.”

The Stardew Valley Playground Is Functional, Just Not For Players

NPC Kids Can Play On It During Sunny Days

The playground inStardew Valleyis not just for show or for sad farmers to sit on, unmoving, in the rain. On sunny days, the playground gets full use asthe kids from nearby Pelican Town play in it under Penny’s strict supervision. While it makes sense for the adult farmer to be left out of the fun (even though fans wish they weren’t), none of the farmer’s children can use the playground, either.

The playground does have a function for farmers that’s hidden from view: Interacting with the round bush behind it on the 28th of any season will net the player a giant green Junimo plush!

A Playground Mod does exist, available onNexus Modsfrom creator aedenthorn, which lets players use the slide, spring toy, and swings, but it was created in 2022 so it may be outdated. Fans are hoping that ConcernedApe will hear their wonderfully wholesome request and allow their characters to wind down from a long day working on the farm or in the mines with a bit of tomfoolery around the playground.

Stardew Valley Players' Request Reveals Their Wonderful Sense Of Wonder

Fans Are Also Thankful For The Small Details Already in SDV

The fans' request to be able to play on the playground is wonderfully wholesome, showing that manyStardew Valleyplayers have a child-like sense of wonder. Some of the comments mention the players' (real-life) kids wanting to know if the playground is functional and being disappointed that it’s not. It seems that, regardless of age, fans of the game just want to interact with all the fun background details in the game.

One Lost Book In Stardew Valley Leads To Three Of The Weirdest Items In The Game

Stardew Valley has a decipherable quest in the final Lost Book that leads to the three strangest pieces of furniture hidden in Pelican Town.

At the same time, players expressed delight at finding out from RedditorEeuwitthat they “can also sit on the edge of the bridge near the museum and ice cream stand.“ConcernedApe is known for putting little details into the game, even going as far as toadd text to the Jojamart shelvesthat only a tiny percentage of players would ever see. The developer may heed players' cries and let them (or at least their kids) be able to play on the playground inStardew Valley. Until then,MithranArkanererallies creators everywhere to make fans' childish dreams a reality: “The entire modding community has a single task now.”
