Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Superman & Lois season 4, episode 9.Superman & Loisseason 4 only has one more episode left before Tyler Hoechlin’s Man of Steel flies into the sunset, and Clark Kent has quite the task ahead of him to be able to get a happy ending. Thelive-action DC showis having a fantastic final season. I was initially afraid of howSuperman & Loisseason 4 only had 10 episodesto conclude the story of the Kent family. However, theDCseries has managed to deliver plenty of thrills, plot twists, and emotional moments with every new episode.
That was once again repeated in the show’s latest entry. Episode 9 featured major character returns, including villains Bruno Mannheim — who I was surprised to see return asSuperman & Loisseason 4’s casthas limited the use of major characters — and Doomsday. The latter has played one of the biggest roles in the show’s final season, and Doomsday’s return inSuperman & Loisseason 4, episode 9’s endingserves as the perfect setup for the series finale. The character’s return led to one ofSuperman & Lois' most heartbreaking moments, andI’m scared for Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman.

Superman & Lois Season 4 Episode 9’s Final Moment Is Heartwrenching
Doomsday Throws Superman’s Life In Disarray Again
Superman & Loisseason 4 has been as epic as I would expect from the final chapter of the Kent family’s story. There has been plenty of heartbreak as Lex Luthor attempts to get his revenge on Lois and Clark for having imprisoned him for 17 years. However,Doomsday killing Superman in the season premiere is hard to top. Well,Superman & Loisseason 4, episode 9, just ended with a major moment that brought me back to the same place of shock I was in when Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman died.
The DC series not only brought back Doomsday, butSuperman & Lois' latest episode saw Lex Luthor once again set the monster loose. Doomsday starts to destroy everything in Smallville, with Superman trying to stop him. However, that effort proves itself futile, at least in terms of where the latest episode ofSuperman & Loisleft off. A bruised Superman tries hard to get up from the ground after sustaining injuries fighting Doomsday.Clark manages to briefly tell Lois and his sons that he loves thembefore Doomsday yanks him into the sky. My heart broke for the Kents again.

Superman’s Chances Against Doomsday Are Looking Seriously Slim
The Man Of Steel Is Not Who He Once Was
Superman & Loisseason 4’s latest episodes have revealed that General Sam Lane’s heart is not compatible with Superman’s body. As such,Clark is losing his powersand dying faster than he should be. Because of that reveal, the Man of Steel is nowhere near powerful enough to take on Doomsday. I always knew the DC series would not just cast the monster aside, but now that it is back, I can’t see a way for Clark to beat Doomsday. After all, Superman was killed by the beast when he was still at full power.

A weakened Superman even startedSuperman & Loisseason 4, episode 9, worried thathe would not be strong enough to fight Lex Luthor in Steel’s suit. What chance would he have in a fight with Doomsday? I’m afraid that we are going toward a potential sacrifice from the Man of Steel, with Clark finding a way to kill Doomsday but having to die to do so. With Steel and Starlight out of commission and both Jordan and Jonathan not being experienced enough to fight Doomsday, I can’t see how Superman could beat the monster and survive.
Superman & Lois' Season 4 Episode 10 Trailer Tease The Man Of Steel Manages The Impossible
Lex Luthor Is The Series' Ultimate Villain
While I can’t see a way for Clark Kent to defeat Doomsday, perhaps the DC series has a card or two up its sleeve. In theSuperman & Loisseries finale trailer, Superman can be seen dedicating his full attention to Michael Cudlitz’s Lex Luthor. Doomsday is nowhere to be seen in the footage, which is curious. It would seem that Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman somehow finds a way to kill Doomsday for good or at least neutralize the villain. As such,Superman’s full focus could rest on finally taking down his nemesis, Lex Luthor.
Aside from finding what appears to be impossible at the moment — a way of beating Doomsday — Superman could also end up on the monster’s side. Lois Lane previously reached Bizarro, who is still somewhere within Doomsday. While she could not do so again inSuperman & Loisseason 4, episode 9, if the Kents were to find a way to connect with Bizarro and get him on their side,Doomsday could help Superman, Jordan, and Jonathan take out Lex Luthor. At the very least, Doomsday could stand aside and letSuperman & Loisend with Clark and Lex fighting.
