I’m calling it here: 2011 is the year of the cephalopod. DePaul University already brought usOctodad(“Loving father. Caring husband.Secret octopus.”), and Dakko Dakko’sThe 2D Adventures of Rotating Octopus Characteris another strong entry.
Dakko Dakko is a newly-minted indie studio based in the UK that focuses on “simple, fun videogames.” Industry veteran Rhodri Broadbent — who worked onFableat Microsoft Game Studios and was the lead designer on Q-Games’PixelJunkseries — posted the trailer today. This is the team’s first game and will be available later this spring on the PlayStation 3 and PSP Minis platform.

As far asThe 2D Adventures of Rotating Octopus Charactergoes, it seems like the objective is to keep Rotating Octopus Character alive while collecting smaller, non-ambulatory octopuses. ROC’s googly eyes and squiggly frame are totallypresh, complimented nicely the smooth animation.
