Peter Sutherland was an official Night Agent in this second installment of the Netflix action series—a promotion from his previous role answering phones. It’s precisely this that made the new episodes so intriguing. As a bonafide agent, Peter’s adventures would be of an entirely different caliber.The Night Agentseason 2 delivered in this regard, but it wasn’t exempt from disappointments.
As was expected,The Night Agentseason 2 featured some brand-new characters. Peter had a league of new colleagues, with Catherine as his new untrusting superior and Alice as his new partner and mentor. Alice was played by the familiarBrittany Snow inThe Night Agentseason 2,best known for her role in thePitch Perfectmovies, as well as projects likeGuiding LightandJohn Tucker Must Die. Snow even played the teenage ward of Vin Diesel’s operative agent character in 2005’sThe Pacifier. This made her appearance inThe Night Agentall the more exciting—for a very short moment.
Brittany Snow’s Casting As Alice Featured A Major Twist In The Night Agent Season 2
The Night Agent Tricked Audiences With Its Brittany Snow Tease
As a familiar and well-loved actor, Snow’s casting as Alice allowed for an exciting start toThe Night Agentseason 2. In the first few moments of the first episode, audiences could enjoy the new partnership between her and Peter Sutherland. They had an intriguing familiarity, andit didn’t take long to become invested in Alice. Unfortunately,Snow’sNight Agentcharacter diedonly a scene later.
The Night Agentshowrunner Shawn Ryan has made it clear (viaTVLine) thatSnow’s casting as a doomed character was very intentional. Such a familiar face meant it wouldn’t take long for audiences to love Alice and, therefore, become emotionally invested in her character. This makes a lot of sense, and Ryan certainly achieved what he was going for in this regard. Still, Alice’s death didn’t mean her character (and Snow’s casting) had to be so underutilized inThe Night Agentseason 2.
How The Night Agent Season 2 Made Alice’s Fate Even Worse
Brittany’s Snow’s Character Was More Neglected Than Necessary
As if Alice’s death wasn’t enough,The Night Agentseason 2 spent little effort posthumously building up her character. It was clear that her death had an impact on both Catherine and Peter, and this played out within their own dysfunctional relationship. Additionally,there was eventually a flashback to Alice and Peter’s first meeting, allowing audiences to enjoy Snow’s presence on the screen for another short moment. Still, this was essentially it.
The Night Agentseason 3 is expected to release early in 2026.
The Night Agentseason 2 could have benefitted from further flashbacksinvolving Snow’s Alice. At the very least, more discussion about who this character had been would have been valuable to Peter’s own development and struggles working as a Night Agent. Instead, it was essentially revealed that Alice had cut contact with her family, leaving no one to mourn her aside from her colleagues. Alice’s death was a great twist, but after so much time anticipating Snow’s role inThe Night Agent, season 2 could have at least taken her character a bit further.
