Superwoman’s Powers Were Taken From Superman’s Nemesis, General Zod
Lois Lane Just Stole From a Psychopathic Warmonger
InSuperwoman Special #1by Joshua Williamson, Edwin Galmon, Laura Braga, Nikola Čižmešija, Rex Lokus, and Dave Sharpe, Lois is having a rough night asthe Daily Planet’s Editor-in-Chief. Thankfully, Kara Zor-El and Lana Lang drop by the office and take her out to get her mind off things. The trio travel all over the world for a night of crime-fighting, but while taking a break, Lois reveals that she’s trying to write about her new life as a hero andher friends offer to help Superwoman get her thoughts out.
Superwoman debuted inSuperman #19 (2024)!
Lois reveals that during the final battle inAbsolute Power, Lois Lane donned an armor developed by Lex Luthor to help the heroes. But on her way to the fight, Task Force VII was destroyed and the resulting shockwave knocked Lois into the ocean. However, Lois later awoke in Metropolis safely with no memory of how she got there. She later discovered she had super-strength and allowed Supercorp to run tests to see what was happening to her. Mercy theorized thatthe armor was connected to Waller’s network and that Superwoman’s cells became super-chargedduring the power reversal.
…the suit wasn’t just connected to the Amazos Waller used, it was meant for space travel…

However, in private, Mercy discusses the situation with Lena Luthor. The younger woman reveals that the suit wasn’t just connected to the Amazos Waller used, it was meant for space travel and was looking for signals in deep space. At the Watchtower, Atoms Ray Palmer and Ryan Choi theorize about the power swap and how rare it is for Lois to have gained Kryptonian abilities. As they speculate on who Lois could have gotten her powers from,General Zod is in an unknown part of the universe, contemplating things in a silent fury.
General Zod is Coming Back to Make the Super-Family Pay
The Classic Superman Foe Literally Has Nothing to Lose Now
The explanation for where Lois got her powers makes sense, as Kryptonians are a rare breed in the DC Universe and no one in the Super-Family was missing their powers. Unfortunately for Lois, this meansshe accidentally stole from one of the worst members of Superman’s rogue’s gallery. On an average day, Zod would be horrible to deal with, but this unintentional theft comes at the absolute worst time for Zod. He just lost his wife and unborn child, he was betrayed by his son, Lor-Zod, and renewed his mission to destroy the House of El.
General Zod’s losses can be seen inKneel Before Zod (2024).
While Zod doesn’t appear to have discovered who it was that stole his powers, he’s more than likely going to find out soon. Superman recently encountered the Time-Trapper, a future version of Doomsday, who accidentally let a few things about the future slip, namely that Zod was going to return and end up taking one of Superman’s eyes. The Time-Trapper also said that Superman would survive the trials ahead of him, but that his allies wouldn’t be so lucky. If Zod determines Lois was the one who gained his powers,Superwoman could be in serious danger.
Of course, General Zod is powerless at the moment, but if there’s anyone who shouldn’t be underestimated, it’s Zod. He formed a new army composed of some of the most violent criminals in the DC Universe, and they’re all willing to die for him. Plus, if he doesn’t have powers, then he likely lacks weaknesses as well, meaning he could wield kryptonite, making him a serious threat to everyone in the Super-Family.It might not have been Superwoman’s fault for taking Zod’s powers, but he’s not going to take the theft lying down.

Will the Super-Family Survive General Zod’s Attack?
Or Will Superman Be Standing Alone?
This news is a bad omen for the Super-Family. Paired with the Time-Trapper’s warning, it’s clear that things are shaping up to be a trying period for Superman and his allies. General Zod is a madman who has nothing left to live for but vengeance, and his next target is Lois Lane. Hopefully,SupermanandSuperwomancan work together to stop whatever plans General Zod has before he tears the Super-Family apart.
