There’s never been a better time to pick up theDead Spaceremake, becauseit is virtually “free” for PS Plus members, has updated mechanics and a gripping narrative, and is an extremely approachable survival horror game, despite it being terrifying and chock-full of jump scare moments. Dead Space Remake’s main character Isaac is seen floating in space while wearing his engineering armor. Space debris and large metal towers surround him while an explosion can be seen in the distance.

For PS Plus members who still haven’t had a chance to play theDead Spaceremake,it can be added to their library and downloaded for free as part ofPlayStation’s spooky lineup of PS Plus games for October, so it’s the perfect offering from the service for Halloween this year. Sony’s subscription service is practically compulsory for PS5 owners to access online multiplayer, but the occasionally stellar offering likeDead Spaceis the silver lining. Those who balked at the remake’s full price tag when it released shouldn’t have any qualms at dipping their toes in now.

Dead Space Remake Review: Elevating A Great Game To Terrifying Heights

Motive Studio’s Dead Space Remake threatens Bluepoint Game’s standing as the champion of remakes by improving the sci-fi horror classic in every way.

Dead Spaceis often heralded for its terrifying enemies, extreme violence, and psychological toll, but the remake is also surprisingly accommodating to those who prefer a more sanitized gaming experience. Included with the updated mechanics comes improved accessibility controls. TheDead Spaceremake added incredible new goreand blood splatters to the already gruesome game, but one interesting new feature is the gore filter, which allows players to experience the game with virtually no blood or guts.

Updated Graphics, Zero-G Controls, Security Clearance, And More

While the originalDead Spacewas a ton of fun, it had its fair share of frustrating moments in both combat and Isaac’s ability to move around the environment. However, theDead Space Remakesolves those problems whilepreserving its best features, and has introduced new zero-gravity controls, similar to those found inDead Space 2,thatallow the player much more range of motion and freedom to explorethe bowels of theIshimura. While the game is relatively linear, in the original, players could not return to certain areas after passing a particular checkpoint, making exploration difficult and frustrating if players missed some valuable loot.

The Security Clearance feature allows players to revisit previous areas, and the new Circuit Breaker mechanic allows for more opportunities to find gear and equipment. On top of that, the graphics have been given a complete overhaul, and create a haunting atmosphere. There are also side quests, unlike the original, as well asan alternate ending that gives players a ton of missing backstory about Isaac and his love interest, Nicole. Overall, theDead Spaceremake has beenupdated to stay relevant for modern audiences, and with the low price of entry thanks to PS Plus, there’s never been a better time to give the legendary horror game a go.
