Treehouse Of Horror V Is The Best Simpsons Halloween Episode

It Covers Three Different Horror Themes In Just One Episode

“Treehouse of Horror V” is certainly thebest Halloween episode ofThe Simpsons. The three stories work well together as theyall try to provoke different feelings from the audience. The Shinningis supposed to create a feeling of fear and anticipation to whether Homer will find and torture the family. WhileNightmare Cafeteriais made to create a disturbed feeling within the audience, making them question their own sanity about what they’ve just watched. The feeling of insanity that is created is something the most recent stories, such asMMM… Homerin “Treehouse of Horror XXVIII” fails to do.

It makes the episode really easy and entertaining to watch. Each story offers something new and creative for audiences to enjoy.

The choice to have all these differing themes and feelings was a genius decision, as it makes the episode easy and entertaining to watch. Each story offers something new and creative for audiences to enjoy. It also means that none of the three episodes feel the same. A lot of the “Treehouse of Horror” episodes ofThe Simpsonsstruggle with keeping each story strong and fresh. A lot will tell two supernatural stories in the same episode, such as “Treehouse of Horror XXV” which sees Bart attending a school in Hell, and the Simpson family dealing with a haunted house.

Treehouse Of Horror V Gave Homer One Of His Most Iconic Episodes

It Shows Audiences One Of Homer’s Most Famous Episodes From The Show

The episode’s first story,The Shinning, is one of the most entertaining stories to watch. The story’s a parody ofThe Shining. The use of the parody is actually discussed on the show as a joke, with Willie asking Bart if he wants to be sued for using the name of the copyrighted film. As well as this, it pokes fun at the original film by copying a number of iconic scenes with a comedic twist, such as Jack breaking into the bathroom with an axe. The story even gave Homer one of his most iconic lines.

The iconic line is spoken once Homer begins to lose his mind. He begins to parodyThe Shining, where Jack Torrance writes that “no work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. Of course, Homer’s version of this is “No TV and no beer makes Homer go crazy”. Not only does this line work really well as a Halloween parody ofThe Shining, but it also works really well asa great quote to describe Homer as a character. It’s clear the story does a fantastic job of mixing horror with comedy to poke fun at the iconic 1980s film.

The Episode Pokes Fun At Itself By Making Fun Of Its Own Plot Holes

The final story,Nightmare Cafeteria, creates a sickening story of murder and cannibalism, made in a somewhat comedic way for television. It takes inspiration from other media works, such as the TV showNightmare Caféand the movieSoylent Green.Thoughthe story is quite sickening and grotesque, one of the things it does well is make a joke out of the canon events of the show. This is done by referring to the character Uter.

The Simpsons Halloween Short Starring Sideshow Bob & Other Disney Villains Coming To Disney+

Kelsey Grammer’s Sideshow Bob returns in a Simpsons Halloween short alongside other Disney villains in The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.

After a certain point ofThe Simpsons, Uter stopped appearing and his disappearance was always mentioned in the show, usually as a joke, with Principal Skinner always shutting down any discussion of the character. In the story Nightmare Cafeteria, Uter is actually turned into sausages and given to the staff and students at Springfield elementary to eat for lunch. Although this is disgusting, it adds to the gore element of Halloween and horror, and it also pokes fun at the plot holes of the show, which is a very difficult thing for a show to do about itself.
