Today’s Connections Category Hints
NOVEMBER 13 #521
If you are trying to get the right guesses on this one, you might have a hard time without some kind of hint. There is a tricky one here with a group of words that look like they belong together but don’t, and a few odd words that stick out and feel very distinct. Sometimes those types of words can help as they guide you in the right direction, but other timesthose words simply make it harder for youto grasp the full intention of the puzzle.
9 Helpful Tips To Beat The Password Game (& 1 Useless One)
The Password Game can be frustrating as it uses complex mechanics that can be difficult to figure out, even with help.
Once you know the general theme of the categories, the puzzle might become easier. However, to feel fully confident in your guesses, you might need some spoilerslike the ones for the category namesdown below.

MINION
MUSTARD
This one I didn’t suspect at first mainly due to the potential sauce in the category, but it is nice that the category itself is yellow and the words are all yellow. It is not the first time they have done something like that, and I quite like it when they do, as itties the physicality of the puzzle on the screen into the puzzle in a fun way. Of course, this may not be as useful for you if you are colorblind, but I didn’t notice it until the puzzle was over either so you aren’t missing much.
EXTENSION
WING
A WING does not necessarily have to be an add-on, as often it is where a certain group of people might have stayed. For instance, the Beast tells Belle to stay out of the WING where the Rose was, which she ultimately doesn’t do. However, I suppose it can be an add-on, but the other words are almost solely add-ons with nothing else. My cousin once had the cutestannex that was designed into a small studio apartmentjust for her on her parent’s property.

Strands is one of New York Times' many puzzle games that consists of a unique 6x8 word search that requires players to use zig-zag solutions.
PLAQUE
TARTAR
Another hidden sauce in TARTAR, an odd use of CALCULUS, and a PLAQUE to wrap it all up made this category quite challenging. CAVITY is the word that stands out the most, and it can only have a few meanings outside of the puzzle and what it does at the dentist. Knowing it was not a condiment sauce category at this point was not helpful, as Idid not see the dental connection right away. CALCULUS would have thrown me off regardless, as I do not think I have ever heard that word used in a dentist setting.
WEDNESDAY
WORCESTSHIRE
Many of these do depend on your dialect and how you hear these words spoken around you. After all, the running joke here is that we make words too long by adding in extra vowels that weren’t there before. The category name also feels quite long, perhaps thematically appropriate, but it is quite the category to keep typing away at several times. It is quite fun, however, to say these words as many different ways as you can to see how many pronunciations you can come up with.
