If you need some help getting the right measure of today’sConnectionspuzzle, I have all the hints and tricks you need to ensure you do. I found today’s puzzle of middling difficulty,as I was able to get two categories fairly quickly and then got slowed down. If you are also getting slowed down in the middle, you might just need a bit of a nudge to get the puzzle finished. However, I have hints for whoever needs them at whatever stage of the puzzle you are in.
One of my favorite games from the NYT is thedailyLetter Boxedpuzzle. It is challenging, but I enjoy the semi-meditative nature of it. It’s a lot of retracing your footsteps and trying again, but because it’s about bouncing around a box,I feel like it is quite easy to get lost in the rhythm of it. I’m not sure if it is my favorite or not, as I like several of the daily puzzles quite a bit, but it is fun.

Today’s Connections Category Hints

If you are struggling to come to terms with today’s puzzle, that’s good because I was as well. The first part of the puzzle seemed straightforward, but the second part felt quite difficult. However, there are ways to get through the puzzle without too much difficulty if you know a little bit more. That’s where these hints come in, as I have put together four clues that should help you decipher what each category is and guide you in the right direction.
NYT Mini Crossword: 8 Strategies To Solve It Fast
This tricky little five by five crossword isn’t always as easy as it looks; here are a couple easy tips and tricks to beat your friends' times!
If you need more help getting to the end of the puzzle, check out the category names and then the spoilers. The category names are always useful, but sometimes when you’re deciding between two words, they are much less useful.

PALM ___
NOTICE
POSTER
I love all of these things, and I particularly like trying to make these things. There are a lot of fun ways to design them, and I find it fun to experiment with them. I will say that a NOTICE is a lot less fun than the other ones, but I suppose that’s not its fault. The word that was a bit tricky here was FOLDER, as it feels a lot like it should go here, but it doesn’t. That’s why I got this category second instead of first.
SCALE
SCANNER
I got this one first, and it felt pretty easy to recognize. However, I don’t think it would have felt that easyif I hadn’t seen REGISTER in conjunction with SCALE. REGISTER can mean many different things, and in other circumstances, I might well put it with FOLDER. FOLDER really is the bane of this whole puzzle’s existence, and it is the word I found was a lot of trouble when it came to narrowing categories down.
8 NYT Tiles Strategies To Score Huge Combos
The Tiles game for the New York Times mobile app asks you to use various strategies to pair matching visual patterns together to build huge combos.
KEYBOARD
SODA CAN
This is where FOLDER actually goes, and I actually had three of these words together for a long time, butSODA CAN is a wild inclusion when you don’t know what the category actually is. It doesn’t seem to make sense when you first look at it, and by the time you get here READER probably looks like it should go here more than any other word. However, that would be an incorrect guess, and you have to instead think about the individual features of these items.
SUNDAY
TREE
This one I think could be easier if READER wasn’t here.READER does not make as much intuitive sense to me, but that might be because I have never been to one. I do love a good Palm TREE though. I do find it funny that they are not native to Florida, given how much the two are related to each other now.
