Tom Holland’s Spider-Man gets taken over by a Symbiote as he teams up with Chris Evans' Hydra Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom in new Marvel Cinematic Universe art forAvengers: Doomsday. 2026 is gearing up to be one of the biggest years forthe MCU timeline, with the arrival of bothAvengers: DoomsdayandSpider-Man 4, as the two films will be starting filming this year. In the case ofAvengers: Doomsday, the world is actively waiting to learn how Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will be executed, as well as what the return of Evans will hold, with the latter’s role being kept under wraps.
AsAvengers: Doomsdayis still slowly building its cast ahead of principal photography,Spdrmnkyxxiiishared new MCU artwork of Evans as Hydra Captain America along with Downey Jr. as his version of Victor von Doom, a.k.a. Doctor Doom. However, to complete the trinity,the artist also included Holland’s Spider-Man donning the famous Symbiote costume. Check it out below.
At the time of this article’s publication,Evans' return forAvengers: Doomsdayhas yet to be confirmed by Marvel Studios and Disney. Holland is reportedly set to be part ofAvengers: Doosmday, but Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have also not yet commented on this matter.
What The Avengers: Doomsday Art Means For The Phase 6 Movie
What thisAvengers: Doomsdayart proves is that not only are fans excited to see howDowney Jr.’s version of Doctor Doomwill be done,but they are also embracing the concept of Evans coming back for this installment as a twisted version of Captain America. There is also clearly still much interest in seeing Holland’s Spider-Man finally get the Symbiote costume, which has been a concept teased since the end ofSpider-Man: No Way Home. Whether or not the Symbiote story will still happen inAvengers: Doomsday,Spider-Man 4, or evenAvengers: Secret Warsremains to be seen.
The idea of having Holland’s Peter Parker somehow be consumed by the Symbiote and then even team up with Doctor Doom and Hydra Captain America would make for an extremely emotional arcinAvengers: Doomsday. Given that Peter is on his own now, it’s possible the the loneliness would eventually get the better of him - hence why the Symbiote would not only be able to corrupt him, but convince him to switch sides. IftheAvengers: Doomsdaystorywent to those lengths, it would set up some of the most compelling storylines for Spider-Man in the MCU.
Our Take On The Avengers: Doomsday Art
Based on the way that Spdrmnkyxxiii designed Holland, Downey Jr., and Evans' characters in theAvengers: Doomsdayart,this is a trinity that would make for some really intense storytelling in Phase 6. Given that there will be more multiverse elements than ever in this film, it would only make sense to see some evil versions of some of the MCU’s most beloved heroes. Hopefully, asAvengers: Doomsdaygets into principal photography later this year, more news will be revealed about what other characters will be back for one of the most important installments in The Multiverse Saga.
