What Happened in Tower of God Season 2, Episode #4?

A Team Forms in the Wake of Betrayal and Tragedy

Directly following the events ofTower of Godseason 2, episode #3, the Regulars recruited by Prince capture Yihwa, and Robdevil is revealed not to be dead but to be attacking Prince. But perhaps the most shocking development is when Lurker reveals Nia cooperating with him, manipulating Nia’s vulnerable position in society. Most cruel of all, Lurker reveals no intent to erase Nia’s restaurant’s debt, instead choosing to beat him to death while Wangnan is forced to listen remotely.

In this dire moment, Wangnan seeks out Viole, intervening in his battle with Love, seeing Viole as a devil he must recruit when abandoned by God. Meanwhile, Robdevil’s assault on Prince continues until Horyang joins the fray, viciously retaliating to eliminate the threat in an impressive show of his underlying power, fancying himself a devil too. Viole rescues Yihwa from the Regulars with Horyang’s help, and Wangnan confronts Lurker. Despite Kim Lurker being a horrific criminal who executed his friend,Wangnan sees any revenge as just more of the cyclical injustice he hopes to end by climbing the Tower.

Ja Wangnan’s benevolence and likability as a protagonist inTower of Godis strongly showcased in this episode after giving mercy to an evil man who just brutally slaughtered his friend.

While it’s certainly too late to save Nia, the only silver lining after the Trustworthy Room test is that Wangnan and Viole joined together, consolidating a team willing to cooperate. Love apologizes for his conduct, bringing his grudge against FUG for their crimes against his family into the exam and clouding his judgment, smoothing things over in a celebration for the newly-united team. The final moments include Wangnan showing his hopeful ambitions to Viole for climbing the Tower and a passing glimpse at Khun to be explored in more detail inTower of Godseason 2, episode #5.
