Warning! This article contains spoilers for Arcane season 2.
The fate that befell Jinx inArcaneseason 2 proves that she is the true center point of the show’s entire story. Theending ofArcaneseason 2wrapped up several storylines that began in season 1, in ways both tragic and open-ended. Some of the more tragic conclusions centered aroundArcane’sLeague of Legendschampionslike Heimerdinger, Jayce, and Viktor. Heimerdinger sacrificed himself to send Ekko back to his place in time, while Jayce and Viktor were sacrificed to save Piltover from a desolate future caused by the latter’s ambitions of glorious evolution.
As Viktor, aligned with Ambessa and Singed, fought for his desired future that lacked the human emotions that cause death, suffering, and war,Arcane’s other characterswere left facing off against them. Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn, and Mel were among those fighting alongside Jayce and Ekko, leading to many sacrifices and battles. What happened to Jinx inArcaneseason 2 is perhaps one of the biggest reveals in the show’s ending and is one with a great deal of deeper meaning.

Jinx Sacrifices Herself To Save Her Sister, Vi
Jinx’s Final Act Is One Of Sisterly Love
InArcaneseason 2’s ending, Jinx dies trying to save Vi. After Jayce defeats Viktor and severs the latter’s connection to his many subjects, one of these followers - Warwick, made from Vander’s body by Singed inArcaneseason 2 - awakens as a mindless beast once more. Warwick attacks Vi, leading Jinx to slam into him and plummet them both towards their deaths. That said, Vi manages to grab onto her sister, attempting to save her from a devastating fate.
Arcane: The Destruction Of Vander & Viktor, And The Birth Of Warwick & Machine Herald
Arcane’s humanistic exploration of the tragic origins behind League of Legends' Champions is one of the ways is succeeds as an adaptation.
Unfortunately, Jinx has committed to dying alongside Vander, partly driven by the loss of Isha inArcaneseason 2, episode 6’s ending. Jinx removes one ofArcane’s Hextech Coresfrom Vi’s powerful gauntlets, causing it to drop Jinx and Vander. Before they can hit the bottom of the Hexgate tower, however, Jinx detonates one of her grenades, killing her and Warwick once and for all. This harkens back to an earlier scene in which Jinx was going to blow herself up using these grenades, only for Ekko to stop her.

Jinx Was The Catalyst For Everything That Happened In Arcane
Arcane Is Ending Because Jinx’s Story Is Over
WhenArcanewas announced to be ending with season 2, many questioned why, especially when the show’s creators confirmed spin-offs are on the way. The reason for this becomes clear as Jinx’s sacrifice plays out: she is the catalyst forArcane’s entire story. InArcaneseason 1, Powder’s desire to help her sister and friends resulted in the deaths of Mylo, and Claggor, and the grave injuries of Vander. This drove her to Silco, which subsequently resulted in the war between Piltover and Zaun being worsened by Jinx directly inArcaneseason 1’s ending.
Every single character and storyline orbits Jinx inArcane…

Jinx’s attack on the council led to the events ofArcaneseason 2, Act I. Then, Jinx was responsible for bringing her and Vi back together to save Vander, leading Viktor to be introduced to Ambessa, causing the butterfly effect that led toArcaneseason 2, Act III. Even in the show’s alternate timeline explored by Ekko inArcaneseason 2, episode 7, Powder was instrumental in developing Ekko’s time-travel abilities and returning him home. Without Ekko, Viktor may not have been defeated. All of this proves how every single character and storyline orbits Jinx inArcane.
Jinx’s Death Explains Why Arcane Is Ending After Season 2
Herein lies the reasonwhyArcaneis ending with season 2. After the finale ofArcaneseason 2, many will be confused as to why the show is ending, given that several spin-offs are teased involving some of the show’s central characters, from Vi and Caitlyn to Mel Medarda. However, this makes sense when viewingArcanethrough the aforementioned lens: the show surrounded Jinx. Jinx was the entire reasonArcaneand its many stories existed, but she is now gone.
Jinx’s story has ended and, given how inextricably bound this was toArcane, the show has too. Spin-off stories will move beyond Jinx’s arc, just as they will move beyondArcaneby being titled something different and exploring stories separate from Jinx. Although the decision to endArcanewith season 2 was initially incredibly disappointing to many, it now makes thematic sense. Without Jinx,Arcanewould not have existed in the first place, meaning that, without her alive, the show should not continue. Spin-offs can be told, butArcaneand Jinx remain secured together for eternity now that both are no more.
