Kevin Can F**k Himselfseason 3 never happened, with the dark comedy series ending after just two seasons on AMC. The series was one of the most unusual shows on television thanks to its unique format, as it was really two shows in one, with one part showing a sitcom family life with Allison (Annie Murphy) living with her husband Kevin (Eric Petersen). This is shot with a multiple-camera setup and canned laughter. However, there are also scenes shot with a single-camera setup as a drama with Allison struggling in her marriage.
The plot line is simple.Kevin Can Fk Himselfmain charactersAllison and Kevin live in a sitcom world, with wacky friends and a situation where Kevin is always treating Allison terribly and gaslighting her every step of the way — all to the canned laugh track. However, when the show switches out of the sitcom world, Allison is looking for a way out, and this involves wondering if she should go ahead and kill her husband just to escape the abusive relationship. That is exactly what happened in the second season, but there is still room for moreKevin Can Fk Himself.

Why Kevin Can F**k Himself Ended After Two Seasons
The Network Canceled The Show Before Season 2 Filmed
There was good and bad news for fans ofKevin Can F**k Himselfwhen the show ended. The bad news is that AMC canceled the series. The good news is that AMC let the showrunners know beforehand, so they had a chance to end the show with a conclusive finale. There have been many shows that have ended without warning and fans never got the closure they deserved. In this case, AMC did the showrunners right and let them know ahead of time and the ending to the series was perfect.
When AMC reached out to showrunner Valerie Armstrong, they said that they loved the show and wanted it to end on a strong note. However, they also said that the viewership numbers were dropping, and it wouldn’t last more than the second season.

When asked about season 2, Armstrong said that they had written or broken most of the season when AMC called them. They then had to change things to end the series early, as she had planned forKevin Can F**k Himselfseason 3 to happen. However, she said that AMC wanted one line used in the final episode to end it perfectly (viaThe Direct):
“The network needed this one line in. They needed the line, of Allison to say because Kevin has died and he is burnt in the house, Patty said, ‘He finally did what you wanted him to do, like he finally did something you wanted him to do.’ And Allison says, ‘I did not want this. Not anymore.” The network needed that line, ‘I did not want this. Not anymore,’ because that is the conclusion of her journey. She started out the show by saying, ‘I am going to kill my husband.’ She ends the show saying, ‘He died and it is not going to make me happy.'"
However, while that line was a perfect ending to the series and Allison’s journey, it was also a good kickoff for what could be a perfect third season ofKevin Can F**k Himself.

Allison realized that Kevin would never let her out of their marriage and wanted to kill him to end it.

By the second season, Allison realized that she wouldn’t be able to kill him, so she chose to fake her own death instead. She did it, but then things got complicated when Kevin realized and came after his her. By the end of the series, Allison had Kevin unconscious in their home, and then it burned down, killing him. Now, Armstrong pretty much guaranteed in her interviews that Kevin died in the series finale. Bringing him back would ruin the entire moment for Allison. However, withKevin Can F**k Himself’s renewed success on Netflix, there is a way to bring it back for a third season with a very different look. Allison wanted her husband dead and now he is.
