Ms. Cobel Needs To Talk To Innie Mark At Severance’s Birthing Retreat Cabin

The Innie Needs To Hear What Cobel Has To Say

The sole reason why Ms. Cobel and Devon take Mark to the birthing retreat is so that they can talk to his Innie. The birthing retreat is used by severed mothers who, rather than undergo the pain and trauma of childbirth themselves, put this burden onto their Innies. Devon had the idea inSeveranceseason 2, episode 7’s endingthat taking Mark there could allow Innie Mark to be contacted and talked to about Gemma/Ms. Casey.

Severance’s Innies Vs Outies Explained: How The Procedure Works & What The Rules Are

In Apple TV+’s sci-fi thriller series, Severance, the characters’ lives center on the fact that they are “severed,” but what does that actually mean?

Herein lies the basis of their plan;Ms. Cobel knows the ins and outs of Lumon’s plans for Ms. Casey, and explaining them to Innie Mark will be much more helpfulthan explaining them to Outie Mark. This way, the former can enter Lumon’s offices and will likely have a better chance of saving Gemma if he knows what Cobel knows. From the outside, Mark cannot do much, but using Cobel’s information, Innie Mark could potentially get Gemma out of Lumon for good.

InSeveranceseason 2, episode 9, Cobel does not want Mark to go back to Lumon and even tells him to officially call in sick. This begs the question of why she cannot let him go back. The reason for this is that Innie Mark does not know anything more than what he usually does as yet, specifically whereSeverance’s Cold Harbor projectis concerned. Cold Harbor being completed has been the main focus of Lumon since season 2 began, and Mark doing so will render his chances to save Gemma impossible.

Therefore, Cobel cannot let Mark go back to Lumon until she explains everything to him, as she likely will inSeveranceseason 2’s finale. If Mark went back to Lumon without the knowledge Cobel possesses, he could complete Cold Harbor, and Gemma would be lost forever. However, now that Cobel can contact Innie Mark, she can tell him not to complete the file and how to save Gemma once he returns to Lumon inSeveranceseason 2’s final episode.
