Although some are hoping that Sara Linton will appear inWill Trentas soon as season 4, the series doesn’t actually need her just yet.ABC’s police procedural is doing fine without Sara.It simply doesn’t feel like the right time to introduce her for a variety of reasons, most relating to Will Trent and his status heading into season 4.

For those who haven’tread theWill Trentbooks,Sara plays an important role in Will’s story.Without venturing too far into spoiler territory, she is his main love interest aside from Angie. Consequently, Sara is bound to appear inWill Trentone way or another, but it would be in everyone’s best interests to hold off on bringing her into the fold.

8Will Still Hasn’t Moved On From Angie

The Will Trent Season 3 Finale Proved Will Isn’t Over Angie

The most significant reason whyWill Trentdoesn’t need Sara right nowis that Will hasn’t moved on from Angie. He technically didn’t say this, but his eyes did all the talking. Will was in the room when Angie got her first sonogram and watched as she and Seth rejoiced in their newfound happiness. Meanwhile, the only emotion on Will’s face was sorrow.

As oftheWill Trentseason 3 finale, Will is still hung up on Angie. So,it wouldn’t be fair to Sara to enter Will’s life when he wants someone else.Even though Will likely won’t be actively pursuing Angie, it would be best for both him and Sara if he moved on from his on-and-off love interest before they meet.

Angie has already left her and Will’s romance in the past. She is in a healthy relationship, and they’re having a baby together. It wasn’t a planned pregnancy, but Angie and Seth are happy about their future anyway (a future that Will thought he and Angie would have one day). Will must accept this new realityinWill Trentseason 4.

7Will Has Never Been Single For 1 Whole Season

Will Needs To Be Single For Now

As proven byMarion inWill Trentseason 3,Will isn’t ready for a long-term commitment. His previous two relationships didn’t exactly end well. Will arrested Angie during the season 2 finale, and he broke up with Marion in season 3 after he accidentally shot and killed a young teenager. It’s ultimately for the best that Will remains single for now.

Will dated Angie on and off throughoutWill Trentseasons 1 and 2, and he was with Marion in season 3.

Darius Jordan Lee as Elijah and Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell in Will Trent season 3, episode 10

After everything he has been through,Will deserves a season off (at least, in the love department). It would be good fortheWill Trentmain characterand the show as a whole. The series needs Will to focus on work and other personal matters instead of jumping right back into dating, which would be frustrating because it’d only hurt Will.

6Will Trent Already Has Interesting Budding Romances To Explore

Angie & Seth Are Going To Be Parents

Will Trenthas always prioritized Will’s love life, but it’s time for other characters to engage in significant romances. If Sara enters the picture in season 4, they might never get a chance to. The good news is that the ABCcop showalready has a handful of intriguing relationships to explore.

For starters,Will Trentseason 3, episode 10 introduced Will and Angie’s best replacement— Faith and Elijah. Faith hasn’t exactly had the best luck when it comes to love. Well, she hasn’t had many love interests, but one was an accused murderer, and the other was a journalist with whom she could never fully commit. Now, though, Faith might have found a good partner.

Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood in Will Trent

Angie and Seth have a great dynamic, and it’s so refreshing to see her in a healthy relationship.

Faith and Elijah, a dance instructor who taught one of Faith and Will’s murder victims, had chemistryright off the bat. They even agreed to go on a date. However, we haven’t heard anything else about Faith and Elijah since episode 10. So,Will Trentseason 4 would be wise to explore their love story.

Kurt Yue as Pete in Will Trent season 3

And, of course,Will Trentshould continue focusing on Angie and Seth’s relationship in season 4.Angie and Seth have a great dynamic, and it’s so refreshing to see her in a healthy relationship. They’re also having a baby together, which should make their story quite important in the upcoming season.

5Sara’s Arrival Could Cheapen Ormewood’s Storyline

Sara Was A Doctor In The Books

If Sara were to arrive inWill Trentseason 4, one of the most natural ways to structure her introduction would be via her profession. In the books, Sara is a doctor before she becomes a medical examiner. As such, the show could first present Sara via Ormewood’s brain tumor storylineby having her be one of his doctors.

However,Sara would undoubtedly steal the spotlight no matter the circumstances, despite this being an important arc for Ormewood. Instead of focusing on him, the attention would be directed towards Sara. Will Trentseason 4 can’t afford to forget Ormewood’s story, and Sara’s introduction would simply cheapen it.

4The GBI Already Has A Medical Examiner

Sara Is A Medical Examiner In The Books

If Sara didn’t start as a doctor inWill Trent, she would have to be a medical examiner, as that is her main profession in the books. The ABC police procedural series already has one, though.Pete has been the GBI’s medical examiner since the show’s start, and there has been no indication that he is leaving anytime soon.

Pete shouldn’t be exitingWill Trent— at least, for now.Fans have only learned a little about him, but what we do know only makes us want to discover more.InWill Trentseason 3, episode 7, Pete revealed that he quit being a doctor when he accidentally caused the death of one of his patients, and the series has yet to revisit his intriguing past.

3Will Has Hit Rock Bottom Heading Into Will Trent Season 4

Will Is At The Lowest He Has Ever Been

Another reason whyWill Trentisn’t ready for Sara just yet is Will’s poor mental health. Since thetragic death of Marco inWill Trentseason 3, episode 11, the protagonist hasn’t been in the right headspace. It certainly doesn’t help that Amanda, who is a mother figure for Will, is on the brink of death heading into season 4.

Sheriff Caleb Roussard

Will was forced to go to therapy after he accidentally killed the teenager, but it was clear he didn’t want to be there. If Will wants to get better, though, he’s going to have to seek outside help. Until that happens, Sara can’t enter the picture. Will shouldn’t be meeting the love of his life until he’s worked on himself, after all.

2Will Already Has Someone New In His Life

Will Just Met His Biological Father

Sara’s introduction inWill Trentseason 4would alsodistract Will from his most important storylinein the upcoming episodes. As many will remember, Will surprisingly met his biological father, Sheriff Caleb Roussard, during season 3’s penultimate episode. Will and Caleb don’t have much in common, which is partly why they didn’t get off on the right foot.

If Sara were to enter the picture now, Will’s relationship with Caleb certainly wouldn’t get the attention and care that it deserves.

Amanda in the Will Trent season 3 finale-1

However,Will Trentseason 3 endedwith the two men agreeing to try getting to know one another. So, season 4 should continue exploring this newfound dynamic. If Sara were to enter the picture now, Will’s relationship with Caleb certainly wouldn’t get the attention and care that it deserves.

1Will Trent Season 3 Ended With Amanda & Ormewood’s Lives In Danger

The Show Has More Important Stories To Focus On

Will Trentdoesn’t need Sara because the show has bigger things to worry about. For example, theWill Trentseason 3 finale’s cliffhangers(aka Amanda and Ormewood’s unknown fates) need to be resolved as soon as possible. Ormewood will likely survive his seizure, but he still has a brain tumor to worry about.

Amanda, on the other hand, could easily die during the season 4 premiere, which would completely change the course of the police procedural series. Everyone would be affected by her death, and Will’s mental health would only continue to worsen. Ultimately,Will Trentmust introduce Sara one day, but the show doesn’t need her anytime soon.
